PD&E Approval for SR426/CR419

The Federal Highway Administration has approved the Project Development and Engineering Study (PD&E) in conjunction with the improvement of SR 426/CR 419 for the City of Oviedo, which means the City can now move ahead with the preliminary engineering, also known as the design phase, of the project to improve the roadways.

With the PD&E approval, $1.4 million in Federal Funds earmarked for the design can now be released to start the design phase of the roadway, which was scheduled to commence in September 2007 and run through September of 2009.  The approval also gives the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) the ability to sign a LAP agreement with Seminole County to manage the project.  The City plans to widen SR 426/CR 419 to accommodate the greater numbers of vehicles that now traverse the roadways on a daily basis.  This improvement is expected to bolster economic development in the area, and provide an alternative roadway to Mitchell Hammock Road.
