Mosquito Information

The City of Oviedo Mosquito Control Program strives to control mosquito infestations to help prevent the transmission of mosquito borne diseases.

When does the City spray for mosquitos?
Public Works Operations Personnel perform the mosquito spraying on an "as-needed" basis, typically when mosquito complaints are received or a health advisory has been issued. Mosquito sprayings commonly occur during early evening hours when mosquitos are most active. Larviciding is performed as a preventative measure whenever areas of standing water are identified as potential mosquito breeding areas.
