Traffic Advisory/Road Closures
Oviedo, FL 10/20/14 – This Thursday, October 23, 2014, beginning at 4:45pm, the northbound lanes of Lake Jessup Avenue from High Street/Hillcrest to King Street will be closed and used as a staging area and parade route for the annual Oviedo High School Homecoming Parade.
The intersection of Lake Jessup and Broadway will be closed as the parade moves north. Anyone wanting to exit the subdivisions along this route will be able to do so after the parade has passed each intersection on Lake Jessup Avenue.
The parade will begin at 5:00pm and travel from High Street north on Lake Jessup Avenue where it crosses Broadway and proceeds north to King Street, where it turns left and finishes in front of Oviedo High School.
It is estimated the road will remain closed for approximately one hour. Expect moderate delays at the intersection of Broadway and Lake Jessup. The best viewing for the parade will be on the east and west sides of Lake Jessup. Spectators will not be allowed to stand in the roadway during the parade.
Oviedo, FL 10/27/14 – This Friday, October 31, 2014, beginning at 12:50 pm, the northbound lanes of Lockwood Blvd. from Hagerty High School to Old Lockwood Blvd will be closed and used as a staging area for the annual Hagerty High School Homecoming Parade.
During that time, the southbound lanes will remain open. Anyone wishing to exit the subdivisions along this route will only be able to travel south on Lockwood Blvd, and will not be able to cross any northbound area of the involved roadway.
The parade will begin at 1:00 pm and travel west to Old Lockwood Blvd., where it will turn right and proceed down Old Lockwood and return to the rear entrance of Hagerty High School, then to the stadium. Northbound Lockwood will reopen as the parade proceeds down Old Lockwood.
It is estimated the road will remain closed for approximately one hour. The best viewing for the parade will be on the east side of Lockwood Blvd. Spectators will not be allowed to stand in the roadway or median during the parade.
FDOT Resurfacing Project
The Florida Department of Transportation and Southland Construction began two roadway improvement projects in Seminole County on August 26, 2013. The projects consist of milling and resurfacing the exiting SR 434/419 from Jetta Point Drive to North of Mitchell Hammock Road, and SR 426 from Pine Avenue to SR 434. Expect intermittent lane closures.
