Community Paramedicine

what is community paramedicine?

The City of Oviedo Fire Department has established a Community Paramedicine Program to serve the residents of our community. Often patients need additional assistance beyond the scope of the traditional 9-1-1 EMS systems.  If you, or someone you know, needs help with any of the following items, we are here to help.

  • Assistance with understanding their medical conditions
  • Assistance with understanding their prescription medications
  • Assistance with understanding and following hospital discharge instructions
  • Assistance with caring for an elderly, disabled, or ill family member
  • Assistance with preventing the use of 9-1-1 or the hospital for routine, non-emergent medical needs
  • Assistance with getting help with substance abuse treatment and recovery
  • Assistance with obtaining prescriptions, durable medical equipment, or primary care services

How does it work?

The Community Paramedic will work with the patient or family members in order to provide them access to the resources they need to help them manage the condition or situation on their own.  Our goal is to help you be able to help yourself.

If you or someone you know would benefit from our assistance, please call the Community Paramedicine line at 407-971-5624.
