Wastewater
The City's wastewater services is comprised of the wastewater collection system, lift stations, and the wastewater treatment facility.
The City's wastewater is treated by the City of Oviedo Water Reclamation Facility (OWRF) and the City of Orlando's Iron Bridge Regional Water Treatment Facility (IBRWRF), via Seminole County Agreements. OWRF is permitted to treat approximately 2.4 million gallons per day (mgd) of wastewater.
The wastewater treatment process begins with the separation of large solids by a mechanical bar screen, then aeration and filtration by two (2) 1.2 mgd extended aeration wastewater treatment trains, chlorination, secondary aeration, and the dewatering of residuals. The treated wastewater goes through an extensive process before entering the City’s reclaim water system.

15-011 Live Oak Reserve Force Main Replacement
Status: Design/Permitting
The replacement of the existing force main pipe on Live Oak Reserve Boulevard due to failure over the last few years.
PW2004 Lockwood Blvd Force Main Project
Status: Design/Permitting
The replacement of the existing force main pipe due to operational issues at Lift Station 50.
PW2214 Lift Station # 23 Repair
Status: Construction
Lift Station 23 project is to disconnect power from West Mitchell Hammock Water Treatment Facility (WMHWTF) and have an independent electrical service with the addition of a backup generator.
PW23-022 OWRF Reject Pump and Force
Status: Design/Permitting
The City is planning for a reject pump station and a force main that can transfer wastewater flow from the Oviedo Water Reclamation Facility (OWRF) to the Iron Bridge Regional Water Reclamation Facility (IBRWRF) to discontinue use of the percolation ponds.
PW2311 Disk Filters
Status: Design/Permitting
This project involves the replacement of the existing disk filtration systems at the Oviedo Water Reclamation Facility (OWRF).
PW2407 CR419 Force Main Corrosion Investigation
Status: Study
A study to determine the source of prior failures for the existing ductile iron force main pipe on CR 419 between Lockwood Blvd and Live Oak Reserve Blvd.
PW2413 Septic to Sewer Conversion Study
Status: Design/Permitting
The City was provided a grant to complete a study that would identify, locate, and plan for the conversion of existing septic systems and connect into the wastewater system.
The City’s waste water collection system includes approximately:
- 94 miles of gravity sewer mains (6" to 12" in diameter)
- 43 miles of force mains (2” to 12 in diameter)
- 72 lift stations
- 2,442 manholes
There are currently 72 wastewater submersible-type lift stations located throughout the city's service area. All of the lift stations are duplex stations (two submersible pumps), with the exception of the master lift station which is a triplex station (three submersible pumps). The lift stations range in capacity from approximately 150 to 1,100 GPM.
